Although he was born in Hawaii, Michael Murphy is a Southerner. Having moved here before he turned one year old, he's spent his entire life in the Palmetto State. Michael grew up in Goose Creek and Summerville, where he now lives, and graduated from Summerville High and the Citadel. "My parents said I could go to any college I wanted, but they'd only pay for one," he jokes.

Education:
Earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business in 1993, he attended the Mississippi College School of Law. Anxious to return to South Carolina, he graduated early, passed his bar exam and started practicing law in 1998. Before joining Quattlebaum & Murphy L.L.P., Michael worked as an Assistant Solicitor in Moncks Corner.

Community Involvement:
Michael is a member of the South Carolina National Guard. He began his career as an enlisted soldier in mechanized infantry unites. In 2005, Michael was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq and served nine months as an attorney advisor for the Iraqi High Tribunal, the court responsible for trying Saddam Hussein’s former regime.

Married to fellow Summerville native, Kerry Murphy, they stay busy with their three sons, Michael IV, Andrew and Logan. "My sons can go to any college they want, but we are only paying for one," he says.
